A genre-bending speculative autobiography. The inspiration for Frankenstein author Mary  Shelley’s most famous work, has been debated for 200 years. In 1814, 16-year-old Mary Godwin eloped with the 22-year-old poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley, taking her younger stepsister Claire Clairemont with them to France.

Two years later she would begin to write one of the most successful fantasy novels in history, the story of a medical student, Victor Frankenstein, who creates a monster from parts of the dead. She later claimed the idea had come to her in a waking dream, but the origin of the most famous name in literature has been a mystery ever since.

Near the end of her life, with a promise no longer needed to be kept, she decided to reveal the intimate secrets of that journey of self-discovery, romance and rivalry she had left out of the recorded diary journal which chronicled their travels. Those revelations were never published, until now, in the intimate personal life portrait love story of the “Secret Memoirs of Mary Shelley:  Frankenstein Diaries – The Romantics” by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley and Michael January
